Twelve Questions to Ask Before You Book

Print this page in your head. Ask these questions by message, in your own words, and grade the answers the way a professional would want you to: the good ones are specific, calm, and identical in spirit no matter who asks.

About the session itself

'What exactly happens in a session, in order?' You want a sequence — arrival, bath, table, rest — not adjectives. 'What is included in the price, and is anything ever added later?' You want one number and the word 'everything'. 'Who will be in the room?' One named therapist, the gender you chose, nobody else, ever.

'How is draping handled, and what do I wear?' The answer should describe your comfort as the variable and their routine as the constant: you undress in private, to your level, and stay covered except where work is being done.

About consent and control

'How do we agree boundaries beforehand, and how do I change them mid-session?' You are listening for a system: stated before, repeated back, changeable with a word. 'What happens if I want to stop entirely?' The only acceptable answer is some version of: we stop, you rest or dress, and there is no penalty and no persuasion.

'Is intimate touch part of the session, and how is it confirmed?' It should be opt-in, described plainly, and re-confirmed in the moment — never bundled silently into a package you bought for other reasons.

About safety and professionalism

'What is your training and licensing background?' Specifics, please — and honesty about the grey zones beats invented certificates. 'What are your hygiene practices?' Fresh linens per guest, towels washed hot, hands and nails cared for, oils sealed: you want the boring list, delivered without offence taken.

'What is your cancellation policy?' and 'How do I reach you afterwards?' A professional has both answers ready. Ask all twelve, and notice the meta-answer: a therapist who welcomes this list is the one the list was designed to find.
